Section 5 | Partnerships
The professionalization of design has opened the workplace for both men and women, but women have sought different formulas and strategies for entering the professional workplace: whether from the promotion of design, collaboration, or the formation of mixed binomials that provide a structure and prompt a variety of dialogues. Many women have decided to enter a professional path alongside their life partners, such as LANZA Atelier, Machina, and Casamidy, while others, such as Verónica Monsivais, at the Taller de Comunicación Gráfica (Graphic Communication Workshop), have opted for intellectual, commercial, or work partnerships to propose a dialogue that encompasses new fields and visions.
Work teams composed of mothers and daughters or members of the same family, such as Phoebe and Annette Stephens, and Elena and Isabel Moncada offer other dynamics that have allowed women designers to complement their practice and strengthen their place on the design scene.
